How much does enterprise SEO cost?
Enterprise SEO costs from about £5,000 a month at the low end to £25,000 or more for large or multi-market programmes, according to UK planning figures from Whito, and from $3,000 to $100,000 or more in US guides. No independent benchmark exists, so every figure below is a published estimate, not a quote. The table lists each source with its currency, date and what kind of evidence sits behind it.
| Source | Monthly range | Currency | Dated | Evidence behind it |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Whito, enterprise tier | £5,000 or more | GBP | Q1 2026 anchors; page updated 2 July and 31 October 2026 | Planning anchor, not from Whito's price file |

Why do published enterprise SEO prices disagree?
They disagree because 'enterprise' is a label for the client, not a fixed scope, and because most figures come from agencies selling the service. WebFX's own survey found that 52% of the enterprise businesses it asked pay $1,001 to $7,500 a month, while vendor price lists start at $5,000 to $12,550. Whito checked the top 10 Google UK results for 'seo costs uk' in October 2026 and found that only 2 named a source for their headline price.
Currency and scope widen the gap again. US guides quote dollars, and a package that includes content, development time and several markets costs more than one that covers an audit and reporting. Whito's warning applies here too: a published price is not a quote.
What do enterprise SEO packages include?
An enterprise SEO package usually covers technical SEO, content strategy, link building, analytics and reporting, and migration support. Saffron Edge describes technical SEO as the largest operational part: crawl analysis, indexation management, site architecture, structured data, rendering audits and Core Web Vitals. Migration support covers URL mapping, redirect validation, crawl testing and post-launch monitoring.
Agencies scope packages in units, and the units show what a higher price buys. WebFX's three enterprise plans differ on target pages, keyphrases, consulting hours and assets delivered each quarter.
| Plan | Monthly cost | Target pages | Keyphrases | Consulting hours | Quarterly assets |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Silver | $12,550 | Up to 80 | Up to 250 | 11 | 21 |
| Gold | $16,750 | Up to 100 | Up to 400 | 15 | 30 |
| Platinum | $23,750 | Up to 150 | Up to 600 | 25 | 45 |
All three WebFX plans include a technical audit, a schema markup review, custom monthly reporting and a dedicated senior SEO specialist. For a UK reference point, our Scale package, built for multi-product, multi-market and enterprise sites, starts from £5,500 a month. It includes eight or more pages or articles a month, UK and US targeting with hreflang, template-level technical work with your developers, fortnightly calls and a named strategist. For the technical scope on very large sites, see our guide to enterprise SEO on 10,000-page sites.
What drives enterprise SEO pricing up or down?
Six factors move the price: site size, competition, geographic reach, technical debt, content needs and reporting needs. Saffron Edge and TripleDart name the same factors with different weights.
| Driver | Why it adds cost |
|---|---|
| Site size | More URLs mean more frequent crawls and log file analysis, and custom scripts to stop search engines crawling expired filters and parameter loops |
| Competition | Sectors such as SaaS, healthcare, financial services, legal and insurance generally need larger investment |
| Geographic reach | Each market adds localisation, regional keyword research and hreflang set-up |
| Technical debt | Broken redirects, duplicate content and crawl inefficiency add repair work before growth work |
| Content needs | New pages, refreshes, product content and resource hubs add production time |
| Reporting needs | Executive reporting, revenue attribution and forecasting add analysis time |
AI search scope is a seventh question. WebFX notes that some agencies include it in the retainer and others charge for generative engine optimisation (GEO) separately.
Which pricing model suits enterprise SEO?
The monthly retainer suits ongoing enterprise work, and project fees suit one-off jobs such as audits and migrations. TripleDart names four models and Saffron Edge adds a hybrid.
| Model | How it works | Best for | Watch for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Monthly retainer | Fixed fee for an agreed scope | Ongoing strategy, technical SEO and reporting | Needs a clearly defined scope and a larger upfront commitment |
| Hourly | Billed on actual hours | Flexible or uncertain work | Less predictable; set hour caps and review use monthly |
| Project | Fixed fee for defined deliverables | Audits, migrations, technical clean-ups | Work stops when the project ends |
| Hybrid | Retainer plus project work | Continuity with specialist bursts | Keep the boundary between the two written down |
| Performance-based | Pay tied to outcomes such as rankings or leads | Rare in enterprise | Uncommon because many variables affect results, and it still needs upfront strategy |
WebFX's survey adds two data points: 74% of respondents pay $25 to $100 an hour, typically to freelancers or consultants, and projects average $1,001 to $30,000.
What costs sit outside the agency fee?
Four costs often sit outside the monthly retainer: development time, content production, tools and migrations. Saffron Edge says many SEO recommendations need engineering work and that development costs often exceed the planning costs. Whito notes that retainers usually exclude content production unless the quote says otherwise.
Tools add a further line: Saffron Edge lists Ahrefs, Semrush, Screaming Frog, Sitebulb, Botify and BrightEdge as examples that can add significant cost. Migrations are best budgeted separately because they need planning, quality checks, redirect mapping and monitoring, as our B2B site migration SEO checklist explains.
How do you compare enterprise SEO quotes?
Compare quotes by putting each one on the same scope units and checking what it excludes. Work through these eight checks for every quote:
- Convert to the same scope units. Record target pages, keyphrases, consulting hours and content assets per quarter, the units WebFX uses to separate its plans.
- List what the fee excludes. Ask about content production, development time, tools and migrations in writing.
- Check who does the work. TripleDart advises judging the seniority of the people doing the work, not only the headline rate.
- Check contract length. Whito prefers three-month rolling terms to lock-ins of 12 months or more, and WebFX notes that many agencies require a one-year contract.
- Confirm direct access. Whito lists no direct access to Search Console, Analytics or reporting dashboards as a red flag.
- Ask what is reported. Whito also flags reporting on vanity metrics instead of enquiries or revenue.
- Ask about AI search. Get a yes or no on GEO being in scope.
- Reject guarantees. Whito calls guaranteed page-one rankings a warning sign.
Our own packages run on monthly rolling terms, listed on the pricing page. To see how a quote compares with your site's actual needs, book a free B2B SEO audit.
How long before enterprise SEO pays back?
Expect months, not weeks, and treat published timelines as planning figures. Saffron Edge estimates one to three months for technical fixes, three to six for content visibility, six to 12 for competitive ranking gains and 12 or more for significant enterprise growth. It cites no source for these figures.
Measure payback in business terms. Saffron Edge suggests tracking organic revenue, qualified leads, pipeline influence and visibility growth, and notes that visibility gains often come before revenue gains. Our guide to measuring B2B SEO ROI shows how to connect organic visits to pipeline.
Is an in-house team cheaper than an agency?
An in-house team has the highest fixed costs, so an agency or a hybrid is often cheaper for specialist capability. Saffron Edge describes an in-house team as an SEO director, a technical specialist, a content strategist and an analyst, with costs for salaries, tools, hiring and training. Directive Consulting, cited by TripleDart, puts a fully loaded in-house team at $420,000 to $606,000 a year. That is a US vendor-cited figure, so check it against your own salary data.
A hybrid keeps priorities in-house and hands technical work, migrations and specialist projects to an agency.
